The Blue Slate is named for its color, which is solid to ashy blue over the entire body, with or without black specks scattered over their feathers. The Blue Slate was accepted by the American Poultry Association in 1874. They are a very mild mannered, friendly medium sized breed and very rare. We are using Self Blue Toms with our Blue Slate Hens so that you only get the blue slate and self blue poults, not black ones. Blue Slates are currently on the watch list by the American Livestock Breeders Conservatory. More breeders are needed. (Limit 10)
