This strain of the Mottled Blacks was developed by Kevin and Jill Porter in the mid 1990’s. The feathers on the mottled black resemble that of the immature Bald Eagle which makes them especially useful in the Native American craft projects. Each white feather has some small to large random black spotting. The amount of spotting a bird gets will increase each year after they molt, and they will reach their maximum spotting potential by their third year. These are truly a beautiful bird.
