The Easter strain of Wild Turkeys is very hardy and colorful. This was the turkey species first encountered in the wild by the Puritans. They were first named forest turkey in 1817, and can grow up to 4 feet tall. They are good flyers and wonderful eating birds. The Eastern has a copper bronze sheen, and its tail has a chocolate brown tip. It is a favorite among sportsman and is making a tremendous comeback in the wild. (Limit 15)
